Serving Troy, MI

The QX80 is INFINITI’s popular full-size crossover. In addition to having upscale charm and elite features, it has robust performance capabilities. At Suburban INFINITI of Troy, our sales associates are often asked about the differences between the 2020 and 2021 model years. For both years, the QX80 is a second-generation version. However, INFINITI has made a few changes to the 2021 version.

Performance

While there has been a modest shift in the trim levels for 2021, both the 2020 QX80 and the 2021 version have the same powertrain across the board. This is a V8, 5.6-liter gas engine with a 7-speed electronically controlled transmission. The engine produces 400 horsepower and has a towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. Two-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available for all trim levels for both years. In addition, multiple driving modes and double-wishbone suspensions at the front and rear are standard. The top trim level adds a hydraulic Body Motion Control system for 2020 and 2021.

Appearance

The exterior style of the QX80 is unchanged between the 2020 and 2021 versions. It continues to carry a regal presence with perfectly contoured sides, up to 22-inch wheels, and an extended profile with straight surfaces. Some of the exterior features vary by trim, but the variations hold steady between the model years. The QX80’s exterior is dressed up with running boards, a spoiler, solar glass, adaptive auto-leveling for the front headlights, LED lighting throughout, a tinted sunroof, a power liftgate, roof rails, and more.

Features

The most notable difference between the 2020 QX80 and the 2021 QX80 is in the availability of safety technologies. In 2021, the QX80 adds lane-departure mitigation and adaptive cruise control to the list of standard features. All trims for both years come with leather upholstery, a three-zone climate control system, a navigation system, dual screens for the infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a navigation system, adaptive cruise control, heated seats, and other premium features.
